Due to increasing competition in the manufacturing industry, the search for shorter product development and production cycles and lower cost led to the emergence of design and manufacturing integration processes. An advanced integrated design environment, such as Catia system enables the engineers to evaluate multiple constraints from manufacturing, assembly, service at the design stage. The paper considers one of the most important aspects of recent product developments called virtual development. In that process the main role is played by Digital Mock-Up which could be considered as a horizontal build up model as well as a traditional vertical approach. Application of virtual manufacturing presented in this paper was prepared in one integrated CAx environment.(original abstract)
