The aim of the article is to translate Talcott Parsons' contractual relations into the language of contemporary capital theory. The American sociologist, who can be bestowed today as a classic, has contributed to many sociological disciplines, including economic sociology. According to Parsons, institutionalism is the right place for sociologists and economists to meet. There are many points of contact between the concept of the Parsons contract institution and the new institutional economics, which includes agency theory, property rights theory, and transaction costs theory. Both institutionalisms go beyond the narrow limits of methodological individualism. Parsons' institutionalism and new institutional economics go beyond legal formalism in terms of contractual relations, especially in terms of equality of parties, equal access to information, equal use of property rights, which is reflected in the concept of moving equilibrum (T. Parsons), analysis of transaction costs (O. Williamson), agency costs (J. Baumol), information asymmetry (A. Alchian, H. Demsetz). It should be noted, however, that Parsons' concept of contract relations in the company did not obtain its rightful place in the analysis of economic phenomena. Its timeliness is manifested not only in the fact that its categories find their equivalents in modern capital theories, but also reveals their weaknesses.
