Abstrakty

Po porażce zwolenników idei niepodległości Szkocji, w referendum przeprowadzonym w 2014 roku, ówczesny Pierwszy Minister i jednocześnie lider Szkockiej Partii Narodowej (Scottish National Party) Alex Salmond podał się do dymisji. Jego miejsce zajęła Nicola Sturgeon, która zapowiedziała kontynuację walki o niepodległość Szkocji. Kiedy w referendum na temat Brexitu aż 62 proc. Szkotów zagłosowało inaczej niż większość Brytyjczyków, czyli za pozostaniem w UE, Nicola Sturgeon podkreśliła, że Szkoci nie wyrazili zgody na opuszczenie Unii Europejskiej. W tej sytuacji powinni mieć możliwość wypowiedzenia się w kolejnym referendum niepodległościowym czy chcą być nadal częścią Zjednoczonego Królestwa. Pierwsza Minister Szkocji Nicola Sturgeon jest obecnie uznawana za jedną z pięćdziesięciu najbardziej wpływowych kobiet na świecie i drugą najbardziej wpływową kobietą w Wielkiej Brytanii (zaraz za premier Theresą May). Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zarówno postaci Pierwszej Minister Nicoli Sturgeon, jej poglądów politycznych oraz działalności na stanowisku szefa rządu szkockiego. Szczególna uwaga zostanie poświęcona aktualnym wydarzeniom politycznym, przede wszystkim procedurze Brexitu i stanowisku Szkocji wobec opuszczenia przez Wielką Brytanię Unii Europejskiej. After the defeat of supporters of the idea of Scottish independence in a referendum in 2014, the First Minister and the leader of the Scottish National Party, Alex Salmond, resigned. Nicola Sturgeon took his place and announced the continuation of the struggle for independence of Scotland. When in the referendum on Brexit up to 62 percent Scots voted for staying in the EU (differently than most Britons), Nicola Sturgeon stressed that the Scots refused to leave the European Union. In this situation, the Scots should be able to speak in the next independence referendum whether they want to remain part of the United Kingdom. Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, is now considered one of the fifty most influential women in the world and the second most influential woman in the United Kingdom (right behind Prime Minister Theresa May). The aim of the article is to present both the figure of the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as well as her political views and to show her work as the head of the Scottish Government. Special attention will also be given to current political developments, above all the Brexit procedure and the position of Scotland regarding the UK's abandonment of the European Union.
