Wciąż jeszcze doświadczamy konsekwencji niedawnej transformacji ustrojowej, mierzymy się z szeroko pojętymi procesami globalizacyjnymi, a w ciągu ostatniego roku sytuację jeszcze bardziej komplikuje ogólnoświatowy kryzys gospodarczy. The aim of this article is to review selected researches on hardiness in context of coping in critical situations generated by changes in one's environment. The history of developing the term is also presented as well as it's short description. Researches that confirm predictive power towards mental health (occupational burnout) are presented and some researches that bring some doubts. Psychoneuroimmunology is one of the research fields in which appear hard criteria, that is efficiency of the immune system. However, even in this field the results are incoherent. It is to conclude that the interesting and practically useful idea of hardiness needs more researching and clarifications. Possible areas of exploration have been indicated(original abstract)
