Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja uwarunkowań i procesu rozwoju gospodarczego Korei Południowej w aspekcie działań na rzecz podnoszenia konkurencyjności i innowacyjności gospodarki. Przyjęto następującą hipotezę badawczą: umiejętność rozpoznania kluczowych źródeł konkurencyjności oraz świadomie prowadzona, aktywna, konsekwentnie i etapowo realizowana polityka prorozwojowa to główne determinanty rozwoju gospodarczego Korei Południowej w latach 1960-2018. Badania oparte na analizie wtórnych źródeł informacji pozwoliły na potwierdzenie słuszności hipotezy badawczej. W początkowym etapie rozwoju stworzono dogodne warunki dla akumulacji kapitału, inwestycji i handlu, państwo zaangażowało się w budowę silnej bazy przemysłowej, w rozwój działalności eksportowej i inwestycyjnej południowokoreańskich przedsiębiorstw na rynkach zagranicznych, a w kolejnych etapach w działania na rzecz budowy gospodarki opartej na wiedzy, m.in. poprzez inwestycje w edukację, badania i rozwój, informatyzację i cyfryzację gospodarki. Uwzględniając rosnącą rywalizację krajów o miejsce w międzynarodowym podziale pracy i zmiany w otoczeniu zewnętrznym (ekonomiczne, geopolityczne i geostrategiczne), wyzwaniem dla dalszego rozwoju jest utrzymanie i wzmacnianie przez Koreę Południową osiągniętej pozycji konkurencyjnej. The aim of the article is to identify the conditions and the process of economic development in South Korea in the context of actions aimed at increasing competitiveness and innovativeness of the economy. The following research hypothesis has been adopted: The ability to recognise key sources of competitiveness and a conscious, proactive, consistently and gradually implemented development policy were the main determinants of the economic development of South Korea in the years 1960-2018. The research based on the analysis of secondary sources of information allowed for confirming the validity of the research hypothesis. In the initial stage of development, favourable conditions for capital accumulation, investment and trade were created, the state engaged in building a strong industrial base, in the development of export and investment activities of South Korean enterprises on foreign markets, and later in subsequent stages, in activities to build a knowledge-based economy, inter alia, through investments in education, research and development, computerisation and digitisation of the economy. Taking into account the growing competition between countries for a place in the international division of labour and changes in the external (economic, geopolitical and geostrategic) environment, maintaining and strengthening the competitive position achieved by South Korea is a challenge for further development.
