Crisis intervention as a form of first immediate assistance given to people going through various crisis is, for various reasons, the source of strain and requires incurring personal cost. This is, among other things, the result of peculiar features of interventions such as: the need for constant readiness and availability of bearing assistance, a wide range of issues, taking decisions under pressure of time (often in conditions of ambiguity and lack of information), contact with people showing strong emotions, unexpectedness of tasks and the rate of their execution and also conditions in which one operates. These elements in connection with peculiar features of personalities, temperament, life situation can no doubt impress the mark on people bearing assistance therby they boost the risk of appearance of problems connected with stress of helping and professional burnout. The present paper concerns people who almost daily participate in various forms of bearing assistance and support. It is an attempt to sketch out the difficulties in bearing assistance, the features of a person bearing assistance, information on professional burnout and also the attempt to find the sources of strain and the ways of dealing with it among primary school teachers(original abstract)
