The Global Competitiveness of the German National Economy

The article presents the concept and types of international competitiveness. The current international position and competitive ability of the German economy has been presented. The international competitiveness in the strict sense was also examined. In the case of the international competitive ability of the German economy, the real and institutional components have been characterized. There are also references to other countries (including Poland and the USA). As part of the analysis, selected reports (Doing Business Report, The Global Competitiveness Report, The Global Innovation Index) and measures of international competitiveness (Index of Economic Freedom, Misery Index, Voter Unpopularity Index, Stabilization Policy Index, Economic Effects Index, Human Development Index, Revealed Comparative Advantages, Terms of Trade, Gross Expenditure on Research and Development, Nature Index) were used.
