Despite the development of the financial sector in Sub-Saharan Africa, many companies are still excluded from access to formal banking services. It can be argued that Sub-Saharan African countries are lagging behind oth-er developing countries, and costs, distance and documentation require-ments are important obstacles. The barriers faced by enterprises show a downward trend. The removal of physical, bureaucratic and financial barri-ers to the enhancement of financial integration is difficult because it also requires addressing fundamental structural reasons such as low income lev-els and challenges related to management. Nevertheless, measures to im-prove the competitiveness of financial systems and basic information and the regulatory environment should accelerate the introduction and adoption of new products, processes and technologies that can help to further reduce these barriers in Sub-Saharan Africa (Triki, Faye, 2013). It is especially important, because financial systems in Sub- Saharan Africa are heavily bank- based (Beck, Cull, 2014).(fragment of text)
