The current study aimed at examining the mediation effects of trust in leadership on the association between the experience of mistreatment and aggression in the workplace and burnout and work engagement. A sample of 838 employees completed a packet of questionnaires that assessed the variables subject to study. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), mediational analyses showed that the experience of negative treatment in the workplace exerted its direct and indirect (through trust in leadership) effect on burnout and work engagement. The findings corroborate the beneficial effects of leadership trust, especially on employee work engagement. (original abstract)
