Die Paradoxe der sprachlichen Kompetenzteste im Englischen in asiatischen Ländern

Abstrakty
Celem tego artykułu nie jest przedstawienie problemów związanych z uczeniem się języka angielskiego, lecz wybranych paradoksów oceniania, a w szczególności testowania stopnia jego przyswojenia. I w tym przypadku nieoczekiwanie to kraje Dalekiego Wschodu stanowią najbardziej atrakcyjną przestrzeń analizy. Z jednej strony występuje tam obsesyjna wręcz orientacja na testowanie uczniów; z drugiej - języki tych krajów są całkowicie odmienne od angielskiego, co powoduje, że sprawdzanie kompetencji językowych wplecione zostaje w różnego typu, niekiedy zaskakujące, konteksty kulturowe. Ponadto bez wątpienia dyskusje na temat testowania stopnia znajomości języka angielskiego w krajach, w których nie jest on językiem "rodzimym", wpisują się w dyskusje na temat kulturowego imperializmu.(fragment tekstu)
This article aims at revisiting chosen paradoxes encountered in the process of evaluation, particularly the evaluation of English language acquisition level among the learners from Far East countries. What is characteristic of those countries is, on the one hand, a strong orientation towards student testing, and on the other hand, the linguistic remoteness of their official and native tongues from English, which in turn intertwines the language competence testing into various, often unexpected, cultural contexts. Therefore, East Asian countries constitute a very attractive research subject, especially as a part of discussion concerning cultural imperialism(original abstract)
