Estimating the Reservation Wage of Academic Teachers in a Hypothetical Contract : in Example of Gdansk University of Technology

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań, których celem było oszacowanie najniższego, akceptowalnego wynagrodzenia pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych uczelni publicznej w warunkach hipotetycznego kontraktu i ustalenie jej relacji do faktycznie otrzymywanego wynagrodzenia. Oszacowania tego dokonano na podstawie wyników badań ankietowych (self-reported reservation wage) przeprowadzonych wśród pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych Politechniki Gdańskiej w okresie od 10 maja do 30 czerwca 2010 roku. Respondentom przedstawiono hipotetyczny kontakt o następujących warunkach: praca naukowa plus typowa praca organizacyjna, roczne pensum 180 godzin, niepodejmowanie żadnej dodatkowej pracy poza uczelnią, nawet bezpłatnej. Prezentowane w opracowaniu oszacowania płacy progowej (reservation wage) przy warunku jednoetatowości okazują się być znacząco wyższe od zarówno wynagrodzenia zasadniczego jak i łącznego dochodu pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych. The article presents the results of estimation of reservation wages of academic teachers in terms of a hypothetical contract and determine its relation to the salary actually received. Estimates of this was based on survey results (self-reported reservation wage), conducted among academics teachers of Technical University of Gdansk in the period from 10 May to 30 June 2010. Respondents were presented a hypothetical con-tact with following conditions: scientific work plus the typical organizational work, annual 180 hours lessons and not taking any additional work outside the university, even for free.
