Prawie jak w piosence "40 lat minęło" od kiedy prof. Jerzy Kurnal rozpoczął swą karierę naukową. W ogólnym wymiarze czasu życia ludzkiego, w historii społeczeństwa czy nauki, to bardzo mało. W życiu jednostki to już wiele, a w pracy zawodowej jednostki ludzkiej i to w pracy twórczej, to już bardzo dużo. Lecz w każdym jubileuszu nie chodzi tylko o wymiar czasu, o ilość czasu. Na wartość i znaczenie jubileuszu składa się przede wszystkim treść życia, wszystko to co jubilat wypracował, co osiągnął w działalności zawodowej, w szeroko rozumianej działalności społecznej i w swoim życiu prywatnym. Ważne jest kim jubilat był, kim jest, co trwałego, wartościowego pozostawia społeczeństwu i swym najbliższym.(fragment tekstu)

For 40 years Professor Jerzy Kurnal has made a strong contribution to the formation and development of science, higher education and socio-economic life in People's Poland. This contribution includes scientific publications, working out the didactic aids mainly manuals and scripts, promoting a numerous and important group of young scholars, including a few professors, assistant professors and several doctors, giving additional training to many managers of the economic practice, publishing numerous reports, counselling work and an active participation in scientific, social organizations and other groups. One should put a special emphasis on a few aspects of Professor Kurnal's activity: 1. Scientific publications which constitute a highly valuable, original and permanent contribution into the Polish literature on organization and management, into the Polish scientific thought in this field.2. A permanent contribution into academic education of specialists from the field of organization and management.3. A pioneering activity in.the reconstruction and development of the science of organisation and management in Poland after 1956, and the introduction of the science of organization and management into the higher education system.4. A creative and a pioneering contribution into the programs and plans of studies at the faculty of "Organization and Management".5. An effective contribution into the development of the research staff; educating a numerous group of followers.
