Analiza słabości polskiej nauki organizacji i zarządzania i jej przyczyn nakazuje zastanowienie się, co można i trzeba zrobić dla podniesienia jej rangi i użyteczności dla praktyki. Można sformułować dwa podstawowe kierunki działania, które muszą być realizowane równocześnie: podnoszenie naukowego poziomu dyscypliny i jej pozycji wśród innych nauk oraz zwiększanie wartości aplikacyjnej nauki organizacji i zarządzania i doskonalenie jej związków z praktyką.(fragment tekstu)

The paper is an attempt to evaluate the science of organization and management in Poland, its position among the other disciplines as well as perspectives of development. The analysis performed in recent years of such indices as percentage of graduates from the faculty of organization and management within the general number of students and graduates testifies to the decrease of the importance and position of this discipline in Poland. Looking for the causes of such a state, the author provides a detailed analysis of two significant spheres: the staff at the faculty of organization and management and cooperation with practice. If in the latter sphere a certain improvement has been monitored lately, especially through the development of organizational counselling, in the sphere of winning and educating research personnel and students' education, one witnesses a specific ''educational gap". At the end, the author outlines the directions of activities which must be undertaken both within and without the science of organization and management in order to raise the weight of this discipline and its influence on the formation of practical management.(original abstract)
