Abstrakty

Czynnikami decydującymi o możliwościach rozwoju każdego miasta, jego znaczeniu, sile oddziaływania i miejscu w sieci osadniczej są: ludność, rozmiary działalności gospodarczej, w tym funkcje egzogeniczne spełniane przez miasto na rzecz różnych układów terytorialnych. Listę czynników dopełniają historyczne przesłanki powstania i rozwoju miasta, jego tradycje i naturalne uwarunkowania, kształtujące odrębność i specyfikę rozwojową miasta, które go odróżniają od innych jednostek miejskich. Prezentowane rozważania mają na celu analizę postaw rozwoju Lublina, na które składają się: proces rozwoju historycznego, potencjał ludnościowy i gospodarczy oraz wielkość i struktura funkcji zewnętrznych, a także sformułowanie ocen na temat charakteru rozwoju gospodarki miasta i spełnianych przezeń funkcji zewnętrznych na rzecz określonych układów terytorialnych. Uwzględniając ponadto pełnienie przez Lublin roli rdzenia kształtującej się aglomeracji lubelskiej, rozważania dopełniono analizą na temat miejsca i znaczenia aglomeracji lubelskiej w zbiorze aglomeracji miejskich kraju, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem podsystemu aglomeracji kształtujących się.(fragment tekstu)

The paper concentrates around the analyses of basis for the development of Lublin which are composed of: Lublin's genetic-historical conditions, population and economic potential as well as the size and structure of external functions of the city. Considering the role of Lublin as the core the new Lublin agglomeration, these considerations were supplemented with an analysis on the place and role of Lublin agglomeration in the system of urban agglomerations in the country with special réference to the sub-system of agglomerations which are coming into existence. The analysis of factors making up the character of the economy of Lublin and determining its effects outside, allows for the following conclusions: Lublin is characterized by clearly differentiated character of socio-economic development, both in People's Poland and in the previous years. This feature results from a specific localization of the city and no cempetition with other urban centers on a considerable area. The reach of external functions of Lublin, their type and character were determined by more general factors such as the political and economic situation of the cuntry and the changing priorities in the functions of the cities. The scale of the size of Lublin and the Lublin agglomeration as well as the dynamics of their population development indicate the dominance of both the city itself and the agglomeration system with which it is bound, not only in the settlement network of south-eastern Poland but also in all the eastern area of the country.The economic potential of Lublin points to the tendencies to a balanced development. With the dominance of industry in the employment strücture of the city and its agglomeration, one does not observe any leading role of this activity in the economic potential of Lublin or the Lublin agglomeration against the background of other cities and agglomerations in the country.The structure of the exogenous functions of Lublin in the settlement network of south-eastern Poland is a differentiated one. The leading external functions of the city are composed of industry, the building trade and education (including science). Differentiated economic base is also characteristic of the Lublin agglomeration against the background of the system of agglomerations coming into existence. With the exception of industry, all other spheres of the economy of the Lublin agglomeration develop exogenous functions with the domination of education (science included). Concluding, one can speak about the maintenance of proper proportions between the fundamental factors of Lublin s development. This is reflected for example in relatively harmonious development of the city and a differentiated structure of its external functions.(original abstract)
