Abstrakty

Jednym z najbardziej wyrazistych przejawów ludzkiej supersprawczości, a jednocześnie argumentów na rzecz nazwania obecnej epoki antropocenem, jest ilość antropogenicznej masy. W 2020 r. dorównała ona biomasie wszystkich organizmów zamieszkujących Ziemię. Na początku XX w. masa antropogeniczna wynosiła 35 gigaton ton i stanowiła ledwie 3% globalnej biomasy. Masa budynków i infrastruktury jest już wyższa niż biomasa drzew i krzewów. Masa plastików jest dwukrotnie wyższa niż biomasa wszystkich zwierząt lądowych i morskich. W 2040 r. technomasa może już być 3-krotnie większa niż biomasa na Ziemi. (abstrakt oryginalny)

One of the most expressive manifestations of human super-righteousness, and at the same time arguments in favor of calling the present epoch the anthropocene, is the amount of anthropogenic mass. In 2020, it equaled the biomass of all organisms inhabiting the Earth. At the beginning of the 20th century, the anthropogenic mass was 35 gigatonnes of tons and accounted for only 3% of the global biomass. The mass of buildings and infrastructure is already higher than the biomass of trees and shrubs. The weight of plastics is twice that of all land and sea animals. In 2040, technomass may already be 3 times larger than the biomass on Earth. (original abstract)
