Abstrakty

Istotny wpływ na kształt relacji amerykańsko-egipskich po śmierci Anwara Sadata miały następujące kwestie: bliskowschodni proces pokojowy - zasady jego kontynuowania, relacje amerykańsko-izraelskie, wydarzenia regionalne tj. wojna w Libanie, czy relacje egipsko-radzieckie. Nie mniej istotna pozostawała pomoc gospodarcza i militarna płynąca do Egiptu oraz zabezpieczenie tego kraju przed atakami, głównie ze strony Libii, co objawiało się wspólną polityką amerykańsko-egipską wobec Afryki Północnej. This paper aims to present the issue of US-Egyptian relations after the assassination on October 6, 1981 of the Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. The shape of these relationships was the effect of: the Cold War, US regional Middle Eastern policy, Egypt's position in the region, Egyptian-Israeli peace accord, and the economic situation in Egypt. It should be noted that the US-Egyptian relations have been changed as a result of both the access to power in the United States by Ronald Reagan, and in Egypt by Hosni Mubarak. The change was a result of lack of personal relationships, differences in the approach to solve the Palestinian issue, strengthening Israel's position in the region, and the need to end Egypt's isolation.
