Abstrakty

Teoria szyfrów pojawia się w ostatniej części 3-tomowego, podstawowego dzieła filozoficznego Karla Jaspersa, "Philosophie" jako uwieńczenie bardzo bogatych rozważań i równocześnie swoisty klucz do nich. Całości filozofii Jaspersa towarzyszy przekonanie o ograniczonej roli poznania naukowego. Po kantowsku rozumiany Byt nie udostępnia się poznaniu przedmiotowemu, Byt jest transcendencją i jako taki nie jest poznawalny w świecie, ale także nieosiągalny poza światem, poza który nie wykracza człowiek. Stąd poszukiwania Bytu w ramach tej filozofii dokonują się zawsze "na granicy". Niemożliwość absolutnego poznania, brak jasności, tworzą niejako miejsce dla szyfru. W ujęciu Jaspersa Byt przemawia poprzez rzeczywistość świata mową szyfrów. "O transcendencji myślimy i mówimy szyfrem". (fragment tekstu)

According to Karl Jasper Existence which is the subject matter of metaphisical conceptions thranghont the entire philosophical traditions on the one hand, and the objective of human existantial aspirations on the other, falls short of intellectual cognition but lends itself to cognition through a kind of signs which Jasper chose to name as ciphera. Cipher constitutes a metaphisical basis through which human existence relates itself to Existence which is its transcendence. Myths, personifications, pictures, artifacts, landscapes and ideas attain the distinction of cipher if they enable human beings to attain a certainty of Existence. Thus, cipher bridges human existence and transcendence revealing the common elements, as it encompasses the contituents of man reading it and the transcendence of existence which permates him, which accounts for identity of metaphisical and existential experience.
