This article presents the results of the research on the motives of choosing the teacher's job by students at the education department. Since the profession of a teacher as a person exerting a significant influence on the education and upbringing of a young generation requires constant monitoring, development and changes, therefore it is important to know the motives and expectations of those who decide to become teachers in the future. A conscious choice of the profession and a desire to do the particular job in large part determine its outcome. The results showed timeless perception of the teacher's job as a special profession that needs to be performed by vocation. The research shows that students who participated in the research made a decision on the choice of studies and future work in accordance with their interests and the desire to work with children and teenagers was the main motif of choosing the teaching profession.
