Abstrakty
Bardzo znaczne spowolnienie tempa wzrostu w 2001 r. w Polsce stanowi dla ekonomistów dosyć duże zaskoczenie, ponieważ mało przekonująca jest teza, że główną przyczyną tego zjawiska są wysokie realne stopy procentowe lub szerzej - restrykcyjna polityka makroekonomiczna. Jednym z kontrargumentów jest to, że w przeszłości tempo wzrostu było wyraźnie wyższe przy podobnym poziomie stóp procentowych. Wątpliwa jest również teza, że zjawisko to zostało wywołane przede wszystkim przez czynniki zewnętrzne (pogorszenie się koniunktury światowej, a szczególnie w Niemczech). Przykład Węgier i Czech, gospodarek dużo bardziej otwartych i tym samym dużo bardziej podatnych na import impulsów recesyjnych, może posłużyć jako kontrargument.
