Abstrakty

Obserwujemy stały spadek różnorodności biologicznej na Ziemi, mimo wielu planów na rzecz jej powstrzymania. Powodem tego ma być konieczność zaspokojenia potrzeb ludności. Tymczasem wiele przykładów dowodzi, że dobrobyt lokalnych społeczności jest ściśle powiązany z zachowaniem przyrody. Podjęte działania dla zachowania naturalnych siedlisk i gatunków skutkują wzrostem dochodów ludzi zamieszkujących te tereny. Liderem wśród krajów, które postawiły na zachowanie zasobów przyrodniczych i ekoturystykę jest Kostaryka. Branża ekoturystyczna oferuje mieszkańcom prawie dwukrotność miesięcznych dochodów w porównaniu z innymi możliwościami zatrudnienia. (abstrakt oryginalny)

We are seeing a steady decline in biodiversity on Earth, despite many plans to stop it. The reason for this is to meet the needs of the population. Meanwhile, many examples prove that the welfare of local communities is closely related to the preservation of nature. Actions taken to preserve natural habitats and species result in an increase in the income of people living in these areas. Costa Rica is the leader among the countries that have focused on the preservation of natural resources and ecotourism. The ecotourism industry offers residents almost twice their monthly income compared to other employment opportunities. (original abstract)
