W Polsce zatrudnianie cudzoziemców w opiece senioralnej jest niemalże niezbadane, jest to więc zupełnie nowy obszar eksploracji dla badaczy. Celem artykułu jest uzupełnienie wiedzy dotyczącej charakteru pracy imigrantów w opiece nad osobami starszymi, postaw obcokrajowców wobec tego zatrudnienia oraz planów na przyszłość. Omówiono w nim wybrane wyniki 42 indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych przeprowadzonych z obcokrajowcami pracującymi w opiece senioralnej. Motywy zatrudnienia są wśród respondentów zróżnicowane, ale tylko niektóre z nich można łączyć z trwałością pracy w tym sektorze. Prawdopodobnie najbardziej stabilny trzon zatrudnienia tworzyć będą osoby, które pracują w obrębie "zawodowych" sieci migracyjnych funkcjonujących w tej branży i dodatkowo - choć niekoniecznie - posiadające kierunkowe wykształcenie lub wcześniej zdobyte doświadczenie w tym obszarze. Czynnikiem w znacznym stopniu ograniczającym podaż tego typu pracowników są natomiast trudne warunki pracy związane z opieką seniorów, które z pewnością będą zachęcać imigrantów do poszukiwania innego zatrudnienia. Oznacza to, że - podobnie jak w wielu krajach Europy Zachodniej - imigranci mogą stać się znacznym wsparciem w opiece senioralnej, lecz w większym stopniu dopiero w wyniku procesu ukształtowania się szerszych sieci migracyjnych oraz wzrostu atrakcyjności, zwłaszcza finansowych tego zatrudnienia. The employment of migrants in senior care is almost unexplored in Poland, so it is a completely new area for researchers. The article aims to fill a research gap of knowledge concerning the nature of employment of immigrants in senior care, the attitudes of foreigners towards this employment, and their plans for the future. It discusses selected results from 42 individual in-depth interviews conducted with migrants working in senior care. Motives for employment varied among the respondents, but only some of them can be linked to the sustainability of working in this sector. The most stable core of employment will be formed by people who work within the ‚professional' migration networks operating in the sector and who additionally - but not necessarily - have a directional education or previous experience in this area. On the other hand, a factor that significantly limits the supply of this type of worker is the difficult working conditions, which will certainly encourage migrants to seek other employment. This means that - as in many Western European countries - immigrants can become a significant support in senior care, but to a greater extent only as a result of the process of forming wider migration networks and increasing the attractiveness, especially financially, of this employment.
