Abstrakty

Ubezpieczenia zdrowotne spełniają swe świadczenia bez względu na przyczynę, która wywołała chorobę, mówimy więc, że są oparte na zasadzie uniwersalizmu niebezpieczeństw (chyba że jakaś przyczyna została wyraźnie wyjęta spod odpowiedzialności ubezpieczyciela). Ubezpieczenie zdrowotne często nazywane jest wymiennie ubezpieczeniem chorobowym, albo ubezpieczeniem od chorób. Zauważmy, że również pojęcia: ubezpieczenie na życie i ubezpieczenie na wypadek śmierci stosowane są wymiennie, gdy dotyczą tego samego ryzyka, tj. zakończenia życia ubezpieczonego. Health Insurance includes a very wide scope of cover of medical expenses, expenses related to adapting to new situation caused by accident or iłlness, the loss of profit caused by disability (income protection) as well as the cover of long term care needed because of physical unfitness. At present we observe a big growth of dread di- sease Insurance. The health Insurance may be carried on as stand-alone or as the rider to life Insurance poli- cies. After a short history of health Insurance, the Author analyses the most popular types of health Insurance and various benefits connected with medical expenses and disability Insurance sho- wing the fundamenta! problems connected with risk estimation, also morał risk, according to the scope of Insurance and various definitions of risk. The Author presents also some other problems characteristic for health Insurance, such as the settlement of claim, deferred periods, limits, out of pocket maximum, co-insurance. A part of pre- sented products still are not offered by Insurance companies In Poland,(original abstract)
