Abstrakty
Cet article vise à analyser les effets d'un accès sans restriction aux soins de santé sur la mortalité infantile au Togo. Nous nous sommes appuyés sur un modèle de duré à risque proportionnel pour évaluer ces effets. A la suite des estimations de ce modèle à partir des données de l'Enquête Démographique et de Santé réalisée au Togo en 2013, nos résultats montrent que naître en présence d'un personnel de santé qualifié contribue à réduire le risque de mortalité des enfants de moins d'un an. Par ailleurs, une amélioration de l'éducation des mères améliore la probabilité de survie des enfants au-delà de leur premier anniversaire. Ce travail permet de souligner la nécessité d'investir dans la formation du personnel soignant et aussi encourager l'éducation des filles. De tels investissements permettront de réduire significativement la mortalité infantile.(abstrakt oryginalny)

This study aims to analyse the effects of unrestricted access to health care on infant mortality in Togo. We used a proportional hazard duration model to assess these effects. Following the estimates of this model based on data from the Demographic and Health Survey carried out in Togo in 2013, our results show that being born in the presence of qualified health personnel contributes to reducing the risk of child mortality less than a year. On the other hand, improved education for mothers improves the likelihood of children surviving beyond their first birthday. This work highlights the need to invest in the training of health workers and also to encourage the education of girls. Such investments will significantly reduce infant mortality.(original abstract)
