Abstrakty

Antybiotyki są produkowane przez wiele gatunków grzybów lub bakterii wywierając destrukcyjny wpływ na komórki drobnoustrojów spoza gatunku, hamując ich wzrost i namnażanie. W 1928 roku Alexander Fleming odkrył przypadkowo pierwszy antybiotyk - penicylinę. Zapoczątkowało to złotą erę antybiotyków, jak określany jest XX wiek. Prawie sto lat niekontrolowanego stosowania antybiotyków w medycynie, hodowli zwierząt czy rolnictwie sprawiły, że poważnym problemem okazało się narastanie oporności bakterii na stosowane antybiotyki. Skuteczność antybiotyków staje dzisiaj pod znakiem zapytania. Okres świetności stosowania antybiotyków się skończył. Czy grozi nam era postantybiotykowa? (abstrakt oryginalny)

Antibiotics are produced by many species of fungi or bacteria, exerting a destructive effect on the cells of other microorganisms, inhibiting their growth and multiplication. In 1928, Alexander Fleming accidentally discovered the first antibiotic - penicillin. This ushered in the golden age of antibiotics, as the 20th century is known. Almost a hundred years of uncontrolled use of antibiotics in medicine, animal husbandry or agriculture have turned the growing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics into a serious problem. The effectiveness of antibiotics is questionable today. The heyday of the use of antibiotic use is over. Are we facing a post-antibiotic era? (original abstract)
