The right to work is a principal right of every human being thus of a woman as well. However, concerning the matter of women's economic activity, opinions vary from a total negation of the outside-family forms of activities thorough the concept of the feasibility of combining family duties and professional career, to the attitudes that draw aside family values and favor professional career. The studies representing women's point of view show the picture of an economically active woman that seeks to combine a professional career with a successful family life (Situation..., 1994; Lisowska, 1994; Balcerzak-Paradowska, 1999). In Poland, high women's economic activity was mostly related to the centrally planned economy period. Extensive economy that brought about a great demand for labour, wagę policy and ideological propaganda claiming women's economic activity as an important if even not main symptom of the emancipation are the basic reasons for the fast post-war increase in women's economic activity. The high women's economic activity took also its roots from the free access to education. (original abstract)
