Energy Intensiveness of Industry and Production Structure Changes in Poland in the Period 1960-1980

The decrease in energy intensiveness of industrial production constitutes one of the fundamental conditions of the acceleration of the economic growth in Poland. Industry consumes over 50% of final energy and provides all the national economy with devices processing and using energy. It determines its particular role in the rationalization of fuels and energy consumption. Among the directions of the improvement of the efficiency of energy resources use production struture changes are specified. In the paper an attempt of defining the interdependences between production structure and energy intensiveness of industry in Poland on the basis of empirical data concerning the period 1960-1980 is presented. The analysis of these interdependences has been used to formulate some circumstances of energy-saving structural transformations in industry. (fragment of text)
