Monografia jest pierwszą w Polsce pozycją w sposób całościowy przybliżającą problematykę megaprojektów w kontekście ich cech charakterystycznych, a także wyzwań oceny efektywności oraz podejmowania decyzji. Może ona stanowić z jednej strony kompendium wiedzy dla studentów kierunków ekonomicznych i finansowych bądź jej uzupełninie dla ekspertów przeprowadzających ocenę efektywności lub podejmujących decyzje dotyczące dużych kompleksowych zamierzeń inwestycyjnych, a z drugiej - wypełnia lukę badawczą w odniesieniu do polskich uwarunkowań oceny efektywności i czynników sukcesu megaprojektów Prezentowane zagadnienia stanowią odpowiedz na rosnące zapotrzebowanie na wiedzę w kontekście znaczących potrzeb inwestycyjnych w wielu obszarach, takich jak transport czy ochrona klimatu, gdzie wielkość nakładów na pojedyncze projekty od wielu lat systematycznie rośnie.
