Abstrakty
Artykuł omawia główne kierunki i czynniki zmian w strukturze ludności według źródeł utrzymania w świetle wyników Narodowego Spisu Powszechnego z dnia 6 grudnia 1988 r. (NSP 88) oraz Spisu Ludności i Mieszkań, przeprowadzonego metodą reprezentacyjną w dniu 17 maja 1995 r. (Mikrospis 1995 lub MS 95). Tak się złożyło, że początek okresu międzyspisowego stał się zarazem początkiem wejścia naszego kraju na drogę transformacji systemowej, co czyni analizę tego okresu szczególnie interesującą i ważną.(abstrakt oryginalny)
The article presents changes in the structure of population by sources of income in Poland in the light of 1988 General Census and 1995 Sample Census of Population and Housing data including main and supplementary sources of personal and household income. The role of different sources of earnings (work in and out- side agriculture, hired work and self-employment, work in private and public sector) and different kinds of unearned incomes (retirement and disability pensions, unemployment benefits, social allowances, etc.) has been assessed for the beginning and the end of the period under investigation. Some changes have been ana- lyzed separately for urban and rural areas and for farm and non-farm hoseholds. Results of the analysis have shown, inter alia, a sharp decrease in the number of persons and households living mainly on wages and salaries outside agriculture and in the public sector of agriculture, a moderate decrease of people deriving income mainly from work on their farms, a rapid growth of self-employed population and a substantial increase of people depending mainly on unearned income, particularly on retirement pensions and unemployment benefits. The changes have been strongly associated with the processes of the system transition in Poland started at the end of 1980s, particularly with the difficult situation on the labour market, restructurization of agriculture and changes in the social security system. The article ends with a short discussion on some demographic and socio-ecoomic factors which may influence futurę changes in the structure of population by sources of livelihood(original abstract)
