Selected Demographic Processes and the Labour Market in Poland in the Period of Socio-Economic Transformation

Abstrakty

The article focuses on changes in nuptiality and fertility, which are studied by region using two groups of factors representing the influence of the transition process. The first group relates to the labour market and the second to the economic situation of regions. The impact of the former is considered in terms of unemployment variables which characterize stocks and flows, while the aggregate economic variables relate to the degree of advancement of the transformation in a region. Results show that the morę advanced the transformation, the better the socio-economic situation of the region and the deeper the decline in nuptiality and fertility. (original abstract)
