National economies, which have proceeded to free market economy since the nineties of the last century, were constrained about solving huge problems. Not only those caused by the previous system of governing and still remaining, but also those, which were brought by the process of the transformation itself. From the economic point of view, the most important thing is to meet and solve economic instability caused by its non-steady conditions. Regional development is one of the key factors affecting the economic balance of a certain country in macro as well as in micro level. This report is actually dedicated to the regional development in Slovak Republic. (fragment of text)

Omówiono powiązania między gospodarką regionalną, a narodową, a także rozwój polityki regionalnej na Słowacji od roku 1989. Przedstawiono polityka regionalna jako jeden z czynników transformacji gospodarki wykorzystanie przez Słowację funduszy przedakcesyjnych PHARE, ISPA i SAPARD.
