Discussion Concerning the Notion Of Destination
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
In this article, an analysis was conducted of the formulation of the term of destination. Its purpose was chiefly to depict the understanding of this notion in different sources of foreign-language literature. The analysis conducted was not limited merely to a discussion concerning the notion of destination: it was extended to cover its connections with other issues (including the tourist, the tourist product, the tourist market etc.) and a description of those elements which make up a destination. The analysis of the notion demonstrated significant differences in the understanding of this notion. It can generally be observed that the attempts made to define the destination concern a demand oriented approach (the destination is defined and understood by the tourist) or a supply oriented approach (a tourist location or the tourist product offered). One of the very few common features is a non-specific statement which makes a reference to a "space", "area", "place", "surface" or "location".(original abstract)
