Institutional Framework of Tarnów Voivodship - Introduction to Research on Region's Competitiveneness

Abstrakty
Scharakteryzowano infrastrukturę instytucjonalną województwa tarnowskiego, innowacyjność największych przedsiębiorstw, osiągnięcia i niepowodzenia w restrukturyzacji gospodarki, proces formowania się układu instytucjonalnego i powiązania między instytucjami i oceniono ich wpływ na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy.
In the present article the authors presents, the results of the research conducted on the territory of the Tarnów voivodship in 1996 the aim of which was to determine the state of the present condition and prospects for the expansion of the province in the context of issue of the region's competitiveness. The authors' tasks consisted in making a diagnosis of the existing institutional system from the point of view of creating favourable conditions for the stimulation and diffusion of innovation. In the article the authors discuss the method applied in the research and present a short characterization of the analysed institutions and companies. Next, on the basis of the research and obtained results, the authors made an overall assesment of the voivodship's institutional framework and interdependence between economic processes and the functioning of organizations which contribute to regional system innovation.
