When a ranking is obtained for a set of projects, the introduction of a new project, worse than the others, may sometimes perturb the ranking. This is called rank reversal, and happens in most Multi Criteria Decision Making models. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that a new method, based on Linear Programming, is immune to rank reversal, which is proved by analyzing the algorithm used to solve the problem. The paper also examines a situation that produces rank reversal when two or more projects have close or identical values(original abstract)
