In case of works aiming at formulating the propositions de lege ferenda concerning adjusting our law to the international standards, especially theseof the European Union, the need appears to source information from the foreign literature. The regulations of many Polish acts are not only outdated, from the viewpoint of our practise, but also completely incompatible with the solutions accepted in foreign countries' legal systems. The Roman convention of 1980 concerning the law for treaty commitments is an especially wellknown example in this matter. Poland, heading for the membership in the European Union, has to adjust its private international law regarding the treaty commitments to the solutions accepted in this convention.(short original abstract)
