The aim of the analysis was to identify the problem of the impact of factors related to occupational risk of labour resources in Poland. The burden of consequences of health loss or premature death of people in working age was analysed. The study assessed the level of intensity of the studied phenomenon in Poland against the background of trends in the "old" and "new" EU countries. The analysis uses the Global Burden of Disease Study 2016 [GBD 2016] data showing the impact of occupational risk factors on the number of lost healthy years as a result of premature death (YLL - years of life lost) or disabilities (YLD - years lost to disability). The analysis was made for two separate age groups: 15-49 and 50-69 years. The obtained research results indicated the adverse situation of the EU countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, and the persistent disproportion in the level of the occupational risk of people at working age. This confirms the need for greater convergence of EU countries in this issue. The obtained results are also a basis for discussing the profitability of health programs both from the perspective of the employer and the entire healthcare sector.(original abstract)
