Abstrakty

Warunkami rozwoju gospodarczego pozostają współcześnie innowacyjność oraz tworzenie nowych przedsiębiorstw. Wokół tych problemów zogniskowana jest polityka gospodarcza zorientowana na wspomaganie projektów innowacyjnych oraz tworzenie jak największej liczby innowacyjnych biegunów wzrostu oraz tzw. klastrów działalności gospodarczej. Ponadto podejmowane są także działania wspomagające wzrost przedsiębiorczości, promujące badania naukowe oraz zachęcające przedsiębiorców do podejmowania nowych przedsięwzięć gospodarczych. The region of Łódź, with its long industrial (especially textile) development history, at the end of 20th century, has noted a very fast emergence of small enterprises. The region has the biggest number of enterprises per inhabitant in Poland. What is more, Łódź as a capital of the region, has well developed academic potential, created mainly by two biggest public universities: University of Łódź and Technical University of Łódź. This potential can strongly contribute to development of local entrepreneurship milieu, by both its educational and research offer. Both Universities develop more and more attractive teaching programs in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as create new technologies and innovative solutions, which are more and more closer to the needs of local small and medium enterprises. They also open new institution and divisions of their organizational structures, dedicated to R&D activity support and technology transfer. However, as this paper shows, these numerous initiatives stay very dispersed and it is hard to find synergy between them. Existing linkages between universities and business have already quitted a stage of initialization but are still at a very beginning of the stage of institutionalization. Still, universities in Łódź do not contribute strongly to technological innovativeness of enterprises, new enterprise's creation by alumni, university spin-offs etc. This leads to conclusion that local entrepreneurship milieu in Łódź needs a common strategy and stronger coordination of existing actors and initiatives.
