Abstrakty

Od kilku lat mówimy o nowym wymiarze rozwoju terytorialnego - rozwoju lokalnym. Zmusza nas to do przeformułowania powszechnie stosowanych definicji gospodarki regionalnej i do zastanowienia się, w jaki sposób i w jakiej mierze wymiar narodowy i międzynarodowy przekłada się na poziom lokalny. Głównym wyzwaniem, przed jakim obecnie stoją podmioty gospodarcze, jest globalizacja. Uzależnia je ona coraz bardziej od niekontrolowanych przez siebie wpływów. Z jednej strony obserwujemy zjawisko coraz większego umiędzynarodowienia produkcji, co powoduje rozbicie przestrzeni lokalnej. Z drugiej zaś - w miarę narastania zjawiska globalizacji gospodarki wzrasta znaczenie poziomu lokalnego w rozwoju gospodarczym. (fragment tekstu)

The main challenge that is facing enterprises and societies is globalization, which, on the one hand, evokes the fear of loss of the locality, but on the other, the globalization determines the increasing importance of the local level in the economic development. The opinion about a growing importance of the new dimension of the territorial development - the local development - is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, the article presents the problem of local development and attempts to answer two basic questions: how to determine the locality and where to look for it? In order to answer these questions the author describes the context, in which the concept of local development was born and tries to determine dimensions of the locality. Author also presents the conditions of: the new economic growth, the social transformations and of the nature of the local development under contemporary conditions of globalization.
