Małe państwa a proces integracji europejskiej

Abstrakty

Unia Europejska jest bez wątpienia atrakcyjną organizacją dla małych państw, oferującą im wiele korzyści ekonomicznych i politycznych. Potwierdza to chociażby fakt, że większość małych państw regionu już jest jej członkami lub zabiega o członkostwo (kraje kandydujące - Chorwacja, Macedonia, kraje chcące zostać członkiem - między innymi Czarnogóra, Mołdawia). Na wyrost jest jednak twierdzenie, że nie ma przyszłości dla małych państw europejskich poza Unią, czemu przeczą przykłady Szwajcarii, Islandii i Norwegii. Członkostwo w UE stwarza małym państwom nowe możliwości i równocześnie stawia przed nimi nowe wyzwania. Także w samej Unii fakt, że obecnie jej członkami w przeważającej większości są małe państwa wywołał długą i trudną debatę na temat przyszłego kształtu instytucji UE i tego, jaki wpływ małe państwa mogą mieć na przyszłość całego ugrupowania.
