Abstrakty

Wiele zjawisk w otaczającym nas świecie ma charakter ilościowy i mogą być one przedstawione w postaci zmiennych zero-jedynkowych. Do badania tego typu zjawisk przydatne są wybrane metody statystyczne. W artykule zaprezentowano dwie z nich: analizę probitową i logitową. Omówiono warunki formalne konieczne dla ich zastosowania, oraz ich wady i zalety.

Many phenomena in the surrounding world are of qualitative character which can be expressed by zero-one variables. only a few statistical methods can by used for the studies of this kind of phenomena. The article presents two of them, namely the probit analysis and the logit analysis. The author discusses formal conditions of their application as well as advantages and disadvantages as compared with other methods. The main trend of considerations refers to application and interpretation matters. The possibility to apply the above-mentioned methods to study cause and effect relation between the qualitative features is shown on the example from the field of socio-economic demography. The results obtained indicate that those methods are extremely useful to study a wide spectrum of socio-economic phenomena as well as other phenomena occurring in different field of human activity.
