Abstrakty

Zgony z powodu utopienia są istotnym problemem szczególnie w okresie wakacyjnym. Często dotyczą osób młodych, zwłaszcza mężczyzn. Dostępne są wytyczne resuscytacji ofiar tonięcia. Schematy te są publikowane i regularnie aktualizowane przez Europejską Radę Resuscytacji. Pozwalają one na podjęcie resuscytacji w sposób usystematyzowany eliminując ryzyko chaotycznego działania. Resuscytacja tonących jest procesem trudnym i złożonym, który wymaga odpowiednich umiejętności, wiedzy i doświadczenia. Dlatego ważnym elementem podnoszenia kwalifikacji jest regularne uczestnictwo w odpowiednich kursach i symulacjach. Istotną rolę w redukcji zgonów spowodowanych utonięciem odgrywa prewencja i odpowiednia edukacja. (abstrakt oryginalny)

Drowning-related deaths present a significant problem especially during the summer holiday period. Drowning is a common cause of death in young, healthy men. Resuscitation guidelines for the management of drowning victims are available. These algorithms are published and regularly updated by the European Resuscitation Council. They allow a systematic approach and management of drowning victims. Resuscitation is a complex process which requires adequate skills, knowledge and experience. That is why it is vital to attend various resuscitation courses and simulations on a regular basis. Nationwide prevention campaigns and adequate education play an important role in reducing drowning-related deaths. (original abstract)
