Autor przedstawia przemyślenia dotyczące strategii rozwoju regionu świętokrzyskiego. Zwraca uwagę na niski poziom świadomości ekonomicznej mieszkańców tego regionu. Podkreśla konieczność dalszej restrukturyzacji i prywatyzacji przedsiębiorstw państwowych. Potencjalnie duże szanse dla rozwoju regionu widzi w jego położeniu geostrategicznym. Na koniec dostrzega specyfikę warunków tworzonych przez zachodzący proces globalizacji.
The content of the article concerns the author's thoughts considering the future development strategy of the świętokrzyski region. Although this region has certain economic advantages, it faces many problems as well. Therefore it is necessary to develop its possibilities in an optimal way while systematically fighting the emerging problems. He most serious threat to the future of this region is, as it seems, a low level of economic consciousness if its inhabitants. Consequently this ought to be rebuilt, by means of raising thr general level of education. What is also needed, is further restructuring (privatisation) of the national economy sector as well as the rebuilding of the agricultural one. The possibilities of this region's development are high due to its advantageous geostrategic location. Transforming the świętokrzyski region into a transit centre is a chance of building its better future in specific conditions coming into existence owing to ther globalisation process.(original abstract)
