Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is said to have a huge impact on the financial industry. This paper analyses the frequently mentioned use cases of DLT in the financial services industry by describing the currently established processes and its participants. It develops a structure for evaluating the potential of the DLT-based alternatives. The paper shows the advantages and limitations of blockchain applications in the different finance use cases.
