Abstrakty

Transformacja polskiej gospodarki, która rozpoczęła się w 1989 r wpłynęła także na rynek ubezpieczeń, do tej pory zdominowany przez PZU i Wartę. Od 1947 r. przedsiębiorstwa te były monopolistami. W artykule opisano zmiany systemu ubezpieczeniowego, wprowadzone zgodnie z ustawą z dnia 28.04.1990, dotyczące podstaw działalności przedsiębiorstw ubezpieczeniowych w warunkach gospodarki rynkowej. Obecnie, kiedy rynek ustabilizował się firmy ubezpieczeniowe rejestrują duży rozwój swoich aktywów.

The far-reaching transformation of the Polish economy which commenced in 1989 has also affected the field of commercial insurance, which until now has been dominated by PZU and WARTA. Since 1947, these companies have enjoyed a monopoly on the market. Significant changes in the insurance system were introduced by the Law on Insurance Activities of 28 July 1990, which provided the practical basis for the operations in market conditions of insurance companies, both new and existing ones. At present, as the market stabilises, insurance firms are recording a distinct increase in their assets. In their capacity as investors, insurance firms currently appear most frequently on the securities market, investing their free resources in mortgage and share investments. In the near future, a change is expected in the investment structure of Polish insurance firms, with their Western counterparts being used as a model. The share of bank deposits will fall and the share of stocks and real estate will rise. The increasingly strong position of insurance firms on the capital market encourages its other participants - especially banks - to undertake similar, highly lucrative actions, while a the operations of insurance companies themselves, conscious of their growing power, extend far beyond the field of insurance.
