The aim of this article is to present the tendencies to develop the architecture of computer systems for business. Creating distributed applications seems to be the standard of creating applications in the future. Differences between one- and multi-layer applications have been explained in the article. It has also heen presented why it is better to use multi-layer architecture in computer systems for business. The problem is important as database software influences strongly the work of the organisations and companies where computers ure used^^ (original abstract)
