The article presents methods of making the most effective use of the capital of the bank. The notion of bank capital is not explicit and is diversely perceived. In the prectice of bank management there are numerous kinds of capital of different significances for business and relations with the environment, e.g. the value of capital can be presented as: book value, as regulatory value, as market value. The article presents all these approaches. (original abstract)
