The article aims to present the history of research relating to deposit insurance. It identifies the main fields of interest in selected periods of study, presents the policy conclusions and indicates papers written by the most popular authors handling these topics. Deposit insurers seem to be the least scientifically examined financial safety net participants. The post-crisis regulatory reforms in financial markets all over the world require a redefinition of the role of deposit insurance. The authors sum up the research in the field of deposit insurance performed so far and indicate the new research challenges and rationale for undertaking them.(original abstract)

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of deposit insurance systems in the post-Soviet countries as of December 2017. The article brings up to date the earlier databases of Demirgüç-Kunt and various co-authors, covering 15 post-Soviet countries exclusively. The analysis shows that post-Soviet countries are on their way developing deposit insurance systems that can effectively protect clients and help establish a stable financial system. Altogether, the most crucial factor which does not allow post-Soviet countries to fully accept the EU deposit insurance regulations is the divergent course of economic development. The findings are further illustrated along the particular case of Ukraine. (original abstract)

Bankowcy obawiają się, iż podwyższenie składek na Bankowy Fundusz Gwarancyjny wywołać może katastrofę. Jednak według prognoz wszystko zależy od wysokości obowiązkowego świadczenia. Suma środków gwarantowanych dla jednej upadłej SKOK Wspólnota była wyższa aniżeli suma dotychczasowych wypłat gwarancji przez BFG dla wszystkich banków, które upadły od czasu utworzenia Bankowego Funduszu Gwarancyjnego. Dla klientów SKOK bez wątpienia najważniejsze jest dziś to, że lokaty i wkłady tam zdeponowane są bezpieczne, środki depozytariuszy zaś objęte są nadzorem niezależnego państwowego nadzorcy.
