Economic Effectiveness of Proecological Investments Exemplified by the Modernization of a Boiler-house

Abstrakty
Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza ekonomicznej efektywności inwestycji ekologicznej z wykorzystaniem dyskontowej metody NPV. Inwestycją tą jest modernizacja kotłowni lokalnej - polegająca na zastąpieniu kotłów opalanych koksem na kotły opalane lekkim olejem opałowym.
The paper is an attempt to adopt the generally used, under the conditions of the market economy, method of the actual net value for the purpose of determining the economic effectiveness of proecological investments. This is exemplified by an undertaking consisting in modernization of the existing boiler-house by the replacement of coke boilers with modern oil boilers. The amounts entered to the credit of the account are savings resulting from the reduction in ecological charges, cost of service, cost of fuel, and other costs. In this case the investor contracted a preferential low-interest loan with the Environment Protection Bank, which made the undertaking more payable. The calculations were made according to two variants, basing on various interest rates. The results point to considerably high economic effectiveness of such investments. Besides, the greatly reduced emission of pollutants produces a considerable ecological effect.(original abstract)
