Przedstawiono teorie mikroekonomiczne przyczyniające się do wyjaśnienia różnych aspektów i form bezrobocia: teorię poszukiwań pracy, teorię efektywnej płacy, teorię postępowania związków zawodowych, teorię segmentacji rynku i kontraktów.

The paper presents selected contemporary theories of unemployment. Against the background of two basic lines being a continuation of the Keynesian and neoclassical controversies about the forced or free character of unemployment, the development of the latter idea has been presented, owing to the modifications made in the neoclassical model by the latest directions of the economic theory development. The following theories have been discussed: search for work, effective salary, activities of workers' unions, contracts, and labour market segmentation. The role of these theories in the explanation of the unemployment problem as well as their disadvantages have been pointed out. (original abstract)
