Przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę organizacji konsumenckich działających w Kanadzie. Szczegółowo omówiono działalność najstarszej, założonej w 1947 r., kanadyjskiej organizacji konsumenckiej - Consumer's Association of Canada (CAC).

Nowodays, the protection of consumers' interests is a matter of great importance as appears from the experience of the countries far advanced in the realization of that need. In the vast majority of countries the consumer policy is characterized by extended institutional forms and is supported by the law that tends to favour consumers and the consumers' movement. In 1960 the International Organization of Consumers' Unions (IOCU) was established. It co-ordinates the activities regarding the consumers' movement on an international scale. The paper includes a list of countries and consumers' organizations that are the members of IOCU. In each case information is provided on the year of establishment, the extent of being financed by the state, testing of goods, and number of consumer magazines published. Then, the activities of consumers' organizations in Canada are discussed. Special attention is given to CAC, the oldest consumers' organization that has been existing for 45 years. The history of its establishment, organizational structure, scope of activities, and programme are presented. (original abstract)
