Autor omówił aspekty teoretyczne unii walutowej jako formy i etapu integracji regionalnej i na tym tle sformułował wnioski dla Polski. Przeanalizował także aspekty dotyczące istoty, zasad oraz efektów funkcjonowania strefy wolnego handlu, unii celnej i wspólnego rynku.

The aim of this article is to discuss the most important theoretical aspects of monetary union as a form and stage of regional integration and to formulate conclusions for Poland. It transpires however that formulation of these conclusions requires recourse to the theoretical bases for the functioning of all forms of regional integration. For this reason this article additionally contains some fundamental theoretical aspects concerning the substance, principles and effects of the functioning of zones of free trade, customs union and a common market. Both in the strictly theoretical part, and in the conclusion section, remarks about concrete real situations are kept to the bare minimum. (short original abstract)
